Ferrari 599 Manual Conversion Install Guide: What's Involved

Ferrari 599 manual conversion kit

Far fewer 599 conversions have been documented than 360 or F430 ones, so this is an overview of the stages rather than a detailed walkthrough. The approach is the same as on other F1 Ferraris: replace the automated shifting and clutch hardware with manual parts, then set up the electronics. We confirm fitment and the exact steps for your car before you order, and every EPOXY54 kit comes with unlimited free install support until your conversion is done right.

Before you start

  • Confirm fitment. Send us your car’s year and spec, including whether it has the HGTE package.
  • Choose your installer. We recommend a Ferrari specialist or a very experienced home mechanic with a lift.
  • Check the clutch. If it’s worn, plan to replace it during the conversion.

1. Strip the cabin

Remove the centre console and F1 controls to make room for the gated shifter and to access the tunnel for the shift cables.

2. Fit the clutch pedal assembly

F1 cars have no clutch pedal. The kit’s clutch pedal assembly and hydraulic clutch line go in at the pedal box.

3. Fit the gated shifter and cables

The 599 is front-engined with its gearbox at the rear of the car, so the shift cables have a long run from the shifter back to the transaxle. Careful routing, without tight bends, is key to a good shift feel.

4. Convert the gearbox side

At the transaxle, the F1 shift actuator is replaced with the manual shift selector housing and linkage, and the clutch hydraulics are connected to the new line from the pedal.

5. Bleed the clutch

Fill and bleed the clutch hydraulics with the correct fluid. Never mix F1 system fluid with brake fluid.

6. Set up the electronics

The car’s control units need to be set up for a manual gearbox, or it will show warning lights. Remote coding guidance is included free with every EPOXY54 kit; hands-on coding is quoted separately.

7. Adjust and test

Align the lever in the gate, adjust the cables until every gear selects cleanly, set the clutch engagement, confirm the reverse lights work and road test.

DIY or shop?

Given the value of a 599, most owners will want a specialist. Our Kit + Install option covers the full job in British Columbia for $33,990 USD total.
