How to Measure the Right Amount of EPOXY54 for a Dry Block / Full Fill
Share
When doing a dry block or full-fill epoxy fill, it’s important to know exactly how much epoxy you’ll need for your engine block. Using too little can leave gaps, while ordering too much can be unnecessary. Luckily, there’s a simple way to measure it before you buy.
Step 1: Prep the Engine Block
-
Tape off all water ports on the block to ensure no liquid escapes.
-
Make sure the block is stable and level before testing.
Step 2: Use Water to Measure Capacity
-
Fill the coolant cylinder jackets with water all the way to the deck surface.
-
Carefully measure the total amount of water used — either with a graduated container or by pouring into a measuring jug.
-
Record the measurement in milliliters (ml).
Step 3: Match Epoxy Volume to Water Volume
The amount of water (in ml) equals the amount of epoxy you’ll need to fill the jackets.
At EPOXY54, we stock two convenient kit sizes:
-
300 ml Kit – suitable for smaller fills
-
540 ml Kit – for larger fills or full-block applications
If your measurement requires more than our stocked kits, don’t worry — we can supply larger custom kits at discounted rates. Just give us a call at 604-809-7398 and we’ll get you set up.
Step 4: Order With Confidence
Once you know the required volume, choose the kit size (or combination of kits) that matches your measurement. This ensures you have exactly the right amount of epoxy for a solid, reliable block fill.
