How much does an Aston Martin V8 Vantage manual conversion cost?
Our V8 Vantage manual conversion kit is $27,990 USD with free shipping and duties included. With professional installation in British Columbia it is $37,490 USD all in.
Complete Sportshift-to-manual kits for the Vantage are hard to find. For context, Hagerty puts a Sportshift clutch replacement alone at $10,500 to $12,500.
Which V8 Vantages can be converted?
This kit is for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage with the original 6-speed Sportshift automated manual. The V8 Vantage launched with a 6-speed manual only, and Aston Martin added the 6-speed Sportshift as an option in 2007. Both the 4.3-litre and 4.7-litre V8 cars were offered with it.
The kit does not fit cars with the 7-speed Sportshift II. That gearbox arrived with the V8 Vantage S in 2011 and replaced the 6-speed Sportshift in the regular V8 Vantage during the 2012 model year. It is also used in the N430, GT and GTS.

What’s in the Vantage conversion kit?
The Vantage kit is built around genuine Aston Martin parts and includes:
- 6-speed manual shifter with shift knob
- Clutch pedal assembly with hydraulic clutch line
- Shift cables from the shifter to the gearbox
- Gearbox shift linkage
- Brackets and hardware
About 95% of the kit is genuine OEM parts. The other 5% are small pieces Aston Martin no longer makes or sells, which we supply so the kit arrives complete. Kit photos are available on request.
Why convert a Sportshift Vantage to manual?
Sportshift clutches wear faster
According to Hagerty, Sportshift cars often need a clutch somewhere between 20,000 and 40,000 miles, and stop-and-go driving is especially hard on them. A well-driven manual clutch may last 40,000 to 60,000 miles or more.
The market prefers manuals
Hagerty values automated V8 Vantages about 5% below manual cars, so buyers favour three pedals.
The way the V8 Vantage was meant to be driven
Aston Martin launched the V8 Vantage as a manual-only car. A 6-speed manual and clutch pedal suit its front-engine, rear-transaxle layout and naturally aspirated V8.
